I'm really excited to see the team this year.
I love Fletcher's moves and can't wait to see a team that can actually play some defense.

I hope the pieces end up fitting correctly and with more practice time they end up playing a more consistent d game. It was hard to watch at times last year.

I had to turn a lot of games off last season because I couldn't watch the embarrassment anymore. It was the worst season of hockey that I can recall in over a decade
I'm also happy with the moves that CF made. I like that he identified needs of the team and he went out and filled those needs. If everything comes together like we hope then this could be a really fun year for us
From what I can see and read about it seems like the players are extra motivated to play this season whether for redemption or because they're on a team who is in win now mode
I was very excited about the beginning of last season, too, but it got ugly. I'm cautiously optimistic about this season though

By far the most games Iā€™ve turned off in a season, werenā€™t many positives last year.

I agree, it was the worst Flyers season that I experienced as a fan.

Also agree. I lost count of how many games I turned off or put in the background while watching something more interesting.

I went from watching games the season before and in the playoffs where I thought Carter Hart would save everything, to watching this team thinking Carter Hart couldn't stop a beachball.

I would imagine the team on the ice goes through the same kind of anticipation.

I loved through 06 07 and this was worse because I expected them to build on the previous season I was extremely worried when nisky retired but we ended up with a decent start despite sloppy play by out scoring the mistakes.

In feb and March we were getting absolutely trucked. 9 0 and several other 7 8 goal destruction games I d tried to erase from my mind.

I donā€™t remember losing that badly on a consistent basis in 06 07.

Itā€™s funny how spoiled we were for so long. I started watching the team in 84 or 85. Became a fan during the 87 run.

Honestly, after we got lindros and the team matured in 95, it seemed as though every 2nd year weā€™d have a good playoff run and every 4 years weā€™d get to the semis or the odd time beyond.

95 2000 2004 2008 semis
97 and 2010 finals

Since 2012 really this has been a very hard run for long suffering fans

As I mentioned. While that was a horrid team. The year before we got beaten out by the buffa slugs and it looked like we had miscalculated on what the new nhl was. We made really no moves that offseason. I donā€™t remember is getting destroyed so consistently however. Iā€™d have to go back and check.

Yeah it's the only season that I didn't get excited for the games to come on.
That was the most blue balling of a season that I have ever seen
It looks like CF removed the guys who played without heart last season. CF made a statement with his moves and it is hopefully the beginning of the identity of this team. I'm tired of us being run over every game with no Fighting back from the flyers

Last season was worse for me because everything seemed to click in 19-20 season. And then we did a 180. We constantly made uncharacteristic mistakes (compared to the 19-20 season), and these mistakes were self-inflicted. Just beyond frustrating game in and game out. Very few positives, Iā€™d say Farabee and Giroux were the only two positives.

What I sometimes forget is that we actually ended up as the 1 seed going into the actual playoff rounds. I think we had won something like 9 or 10 in a row. Then 3 in a row in the bubble then began to struggle in round 1. Very precipitous drop to out of the playoffs altogether.

Last season was putrid not doubt. Just think itā€™s been a while so it is forgotten. We only won like twenty some games that season. Full regular season. Itā€™s just a good comparable imo. Anyone know is that when we got kimmo and hartnel?

I do know that was the jvr drafting year. Always wonder what if kane

I didnā€™t like that either. Days are gone when you have big brawls etc but man. We just rolled over several times ffs with zero pushback at all. Very discouraging.

What I will say is that in genera I like the moves, Iā€™m giving this like 20 games. So many changes it takes time to build chemistry. They canā€™t come out and go 5 and 15 or anything but a .500 start or maybe a bit better is ok. It might take time for the team to gel. If the effort is there consistently and we have decent starts for the first time in 8 years then Iā€™ll be excited.

So I remember it well. We went 22 48 and 12 56 points. I remember because the next year those numbers were a line I believe. Knuble briere and Gagne.

We traded fools for a first and upshall. Traded that first for the right to negotiate early with timo and hartnell. Signed both pre ufa. Also signed briere and at the tdl got biron for a 2nd.

Lost the lottery and drafted jvr instead of having the first. Kane.

Next year. Great rebound. Won 2 rounds of playoffs. Lost in 5 to pitt in the semis

This is how I have always been rooting for a sports team. No one can reasonably expect their team to win every single game or even be the top team in the league year after year, but they have to be accountable for their effort EVERY single game they play.

There will be bad games for every team, but consistently not showing up for stretches is unacceptable. Even if the Flyers lose and I can say they did everything they could, but the other team was better than them I can accept that. One or two players will have a bad game, but a whole team should never ever show such poor effort. Last year was the worst season I have experienced because they knew the problems that had to be corrected and still did the same thing. Everyone can blame lack of practice, but that is the biggest cop out excuse there is. Even during "normal" regular seasons when teams lose they blame lack of practice time. This limited practice schedule during the season was accepted in the new CBA by ALL, so they need to figure out a way to get over it.

Give me effort and a passion to win every game and I have nothing to complain about.

Question is for bill but anyone who witnessed practice.

I saw an article that frost and g went back and forth in a drill. How did this compare to their first battle when frost and ratcliffe went against g and coots. ( when they were taken to school). How did frost fair against g this time?

Just to pile on. I will agree that last season was the worst season of Flyers hockey EVER!! Went to my first game against the Leafs in the playoffs in 1976(second game was game 3 of the Finals against the Habs that same year). Had season tickets from 1985 thru 2005. Haven't been to a game since the 2012 playoff series against the Pens and I really haven't missed much, but last season was the worst. They were the softest team in Flyers history and had no compete in them at all for most games. So glad management got rid of some of the chief softies and now we have to see if it's gonna work. At least they should be competitive this year and that will be a big step up from last year's sad sacks.

Honestly we had so much momentum and chemistry before the covid pause. Itā€™s really a shame. It seemed we were going to be ā€œthatā€ team who gets hot at the right time and carries it to the playoffs. But maybe thatā€™s my orange glasses talking. Then again, Vegas pegged us as the Cup favorite right before the pause. We were really playing some of the best hockey as a team that weā€™ve seen in years.
